Dr Neil Beumelburg (Medical Director)I was born in Christchurch in 1968 & attended Christchurch Boys' High School in the early 1980's. After one year at Canterbury University I gained entry to Otago Medical School in Dunedin, graduating in 1991. After many great years travelling & working overseas I returned to Christchurch and worked at Christchurch Hospitals in various roles before deciding to specialise in General Practice in 1999. I am now a Fellow of the Royal NZ College of GP's & am proud to be involved in specialist training for GP Registrar's & teaching of Medical Students from our local Christchurch School of Medicine, some of which is carried out at MMC. As Medical Director my main interest is continuing to build & improve our Medical Centre & the service we are able to provide to our enrolled population & visitors to MMC.Outside of work I have too many interests to list & not enough time to enjoy them all.....but I always give it a go!

Dr Ras AmaraI am a British doctor from London. I was born in Sri Lanka and moved to the UK aged five. I graduated in 2000 and spent six years in hospital specialties (mostly in London and Salisbury) and then came to NZ in 2006. I was planning to stay here for only one year, but four years later I am still here and loving it. In NZ, I worked 18 months in Christchurch Hospital and 3 months in Middlemore Hospital before I entered GP training in Christchurch in 2008. I love the diversity general practice has to offer and the continuing, long term relationship with patients. My special interests are General Medicine, Minor surgery and Orthopaedics. Outside medicine my interests include Travelling - exploring different countries and cultures, Nutrition and vitality, Exploring human behaviour and potential (how the mind works), Astronomy (Universal laws and theories), Fine dining (who doesn’t!) and Reading.

Dr Heather JefferiesI’m proud to be part of the Moorhouse Medical Centre team. My special interests lie in minor surgical procedures, the Accident & Medical side of our practice, and paediatrics. I’m currently undertaking higher studies in both General Practice, and Community Emergency Medicine. Having travelled to New Zealand regularly (from my home country of Australia) for skiing and climbing each year, I jumped at the chance to move to Christchurch as part of my medical training. I now consider New Zealand home, and still wake up each morning thinking “why would I want to live anywhere else?” I love tramping, and skiing, and get up to the mountains at every opportunity. Except on days when there is a rugby match on. And before you ask, there is no contest at test matches - I’ve always supported the All Blacks.

Dr Caroline AnsleyI graduated from Otago University (Dunedin School of Medicine) in 2002. Prior to entering General Practice in 2006 my main area of clinical experience was in Emergency Medicine. I gained my Fellowship in General Practice at the end of 2009 after working in inner city and suburban Wellington general practices, plus regular Accident and Medical work in Wellington and Porirua After Hours services. We moved to Christchurch for family reasons at the end of 2009. I have two preschool children (both boys) who keep me very busy. In a former life (prior to children) we loved surfing, camping, mountain-biking, skiing and tramping. My new hobby is knitting, I am a member of our local Toy Library Committee and I attend Play Centre during the week with my children. I started working at Moorhouse Medical in May 2011 after returning to work after maternity leave. |

Dr Hannah GordonI graduated in 2005 from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in London. Initially, I started training in Orthopaedics but found myself drawn towards the variety of General Practice. During my hospital training I completed rotations in Emergency Medicine, Gastroenterology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. I qualified as a GP with MRCGP in July 2011. I still have a strong interest in musculoskeletal medicine, fractures and sports injuries and am really enjoying using these skills in the A&M setting. My Kiwi husband and I moved to Christchurch earlier this year. We love working and living here and have been amazed by the strong sense of community and the kindness we have experienced. We were very lucky to arrive in time for the fantastic Rugby World Cup. In my free time I enjoy yoga and making the most of this beautiful country through biking, running, kayaking, skiing and camping....and wine tasting! |
