Would you like to work for a General Practice in Christchurch, New Zealand?
New Zealand GPs provide community-based primary health care. Day-to-day work at Moorhouse Medical includes first contact, diagnosis, continuity of care, health promotion, prevention and screening. GPs and Practice Nurses act are the point of referral to public secondary and tertiary services, as well as many private specialists.
General practice in New Zealand is a private business with consultations. Patients usually pay a fee to see a GP. Consultations and additional services are partly subsidised by the government which is reason for patients to enrol with a general practitioner. In addition, this encourages them to see the same GP each time they visit, if possible, for continuity of care.
About Moorhouse Medical Centre
Moorhouse Medical Centre was established in 1995 as a General Practice for the larger Christchurch City Area and we currently deliver quality care to over 8,000 patients. It is also an Accident & Medical (A&M) Centre, providing urgent care which does not require hospital emergency service.
Moorhouse Medical Centre includes 8 GPs, 16 practice nurses, and 14 support staff.
As a General Practice we have grown substantially over the years however our aim has remained the same: to do all we can to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality general practices services possible – both now and in the future.
In addition to a General Practice, Moorhouse Medical Centre has increased its services available to the community through a dedicated Vaccination & Travel Clinic, a Fracture Clinic, a Business Health Service, a Minor Procedures Clinic and a Soft Tissue Injury Clinic.
